No , demolishing them is not necessary because eventually they will sort themselves out. From The game manual: If the abandoned buildings are not bulldozed, they will be inhabited again after a minimum of 4 weeks of in-game time. Burned down buildings need to be bulldozed to make room for a new building .
7/25/2017 · AFAIK the abandon visual are done by using an overlay texture over exist building , same with burning marks, so there is no abandoned version to extract from vanilla. You can however extract the building from vanilla using Mod Tool, edit the texture with 3rd software to make it ruined, then import back into Asset Editor, and save it as prop.
